So you've been stuck in your head?

Mental health illness. The black sheep of the illness world. “I can’t see that you’re sick, so you can’t be.” Just because I don’t literally have the words “Mental Health Sufferer” tattooed to my face, doesn’t make it any less true.
“What do you even have to be worried/anxious/depressed about?” Are you kidding me? Um EVERYTHING?!? One income household, bills, feeding a family, exercise, making sure I look good, supporting friends, wanting to bring in money, kids not listening, kids starting school, sex, not enough self care, kids fighting each other, future plans, lack of future plans, why can’t I just stick with something, teaching my kids, disappointing my family, and that’s just half the reasons. If you gave me a month, I’d probably have added a whole page.
Why do I worry about these things? It could be many reasons. I’m a people pleaser, I hate confrontation, I’m a woman, I’m a mum? Sometimes is just comes down to one main point. Some people are just genetically predisposed to have an Anxious Personality. Yay, thanks Family!
I kid. Mostly
So how do you deal with these feelings and emotions? By using coping tools. Many people have different types of coping mechanisms. So far I’ve talked about Spotify and my love of Kpop.
Now to a tool ACTUALLY designed for Mental Health.
The magic of the applications you can get on your phone now is a wonderous thing.
Your phones app store has so many mental health app options. From apps that act as diaries, to apps that help calm you for bed.
Now my favourite app is also my App Stores “Editors Choice”. And for good reason.
Pacifica has so many great functions and comes as a free to use or premium app. As with many apps, parts of the app aren’t accessible without a membership, but honestly the free version accessories are perfectly fine for a starting mental health base.
Stress, anxiety, and depression can get in the way of you living your life. Pacifica gives you psychologist-designed tools to address them based on Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, mindfulness meditation, relaxation, and mood/health tracking. – Pacifica app, android store
Moodtracker
When you’re all set up, the first thing the app opens up to is your mood tracker, asking you how you feel. Once selected, you are provided with writing space and a drop down box of feelings to select from.
You can track your mood levels in the Progress tab at the bottom.
Once you “check in” you are provided with 5 Tool Options to use.
Meditate
Health Tracker
By tracking your habits in health tracker, the app gives you a "health rating"
Hope Board
You can add quotes, posters and thoughts to your hope board, to keep you motivated.
Thoughts
My least favourite panel, but hey, if we don't work through our thoughts and feelings, we don't get anywhere. This step for me sometimes can be more triggering than the actual event, because I have to think about it again, urgh. But persevere Moles.
Goals
What are your goals in regards to overcoming some of your fears? What healthy habit would you like to develop? Well whatever they are they go in your goal tracker. The app developers provide you with options, but you can add your own particular ones.
There are also guided Paths if you’re not sure where to start. Along with a Discover board with articles from the Pacifica team, and a Community board where you can join discussions or chat groups.
Now I admit, I do use the app intermittently, because I have the a glorious habit of forgetting to do stuff that is good for me. Hey, I'm far from perfect, But when I do remember, I find myself a little lighter.
So what have you got to lose? Download a Mental health app now!
And Remember, Love Yourself Moles
